Alamo City Debate LLC is in its 3rd year of working with schools to help create a better community. The last 2 years have been particularly hard on programs around the area with most programs having a substantial loss of student interest. It isn’t hard to see why. Spending hours looking into a camera is not a fun way to compete. For ie students making a video and sharing it with multiple tournaments is not a fun way to compete.
We are looking to help programs grow and flourish. One thing that is a positive is teaching can be done remotely. I don’t have to drive everywhere to work with students. This helps with speech redos and asking and answering questions. As we open up, and keep ourselves aware of the world around us, it is vital that students enjoy the experience of competing in person. We are working with programs to create a fun year. ACD is also running an in-person camp. To us, that is a strong starting point for creating long lasting friendships and is one of the things we remember the most about our years competing. If you don’t come here, please go somewhere. It is worth the time and effort.
We will keep working to expand our knowledge to the local community and this year will allow coaches to visit labs and learn from the best we can offer. There are students who need leadership and guidance. Let’s keep working to grow the community.
